Introduction of Kashiwazaki Senior High School

Kashiwazaki Senior High School is located in Kashiwazaki city in the central part of Niigata Prefecture.  The principle school, founded in 1900, produces splendid graduates who play an active part at home and abroad.  We are endowed with excellent students that gather from all around the Kashiwazaki area.  They inherit a tradition of both academics and club activities “Bunbu Ryodou” of our school and learn at our school eagerly.  Even club activities raise splendid results.

Our school has approximately 720 students.  Approximately 90% of our graduates enter university, with over 30% of them entering national universities.  Kashiwazaki Senior High School is renowned for being a prestigious school in the area.  Each grade usually consists of six general course classes, and one of them \ the “Science and Mathematics Track”, follows a special program called “Super Science” and aims to produce technologists and researchers of the future.

Our school has been appointed an important school for the promotion of water polo and handball by the Niigata Prefectural Government.  Our water polo and handball teams often participate in national conventions, and together with the track and field club, attain excellent results.  In addition, for the athletic meets and school festivals that students plan and perform voluntarily, a large number of visitors from various areas come to observe and appreciate the high quality power of expression of our school.

Our school has received a designation from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology since 2008 and works on science and mathematics education eagerly as a Super Science High school (SSH).  We learn about the conservation of local, rich, natural environments and the most advanced technologies of our country.  Our goal is to form a society that has a large field of vision and that can play an active part, globally, in the field of technology as well as study it.  We will further develop this project and endeavor to understand science in English as well as raise the ability of students to present their study contents in English.  We want to raise a globally talented person.  In addition, we teach science using tablet terminals and electronic boards in order to increase students’ abilities of information retrieval and information processing.  We also want to increase students’ presentation abilities and we want to bring up talented people who can adapt themselves in this information-age.
